Admission to M.Sc./ M. Tech./ MBA (Agribusiness) Programmes shall be open to all eligible candidates subject to the reservation of seats as under: -
1)Normal seats shall be reserved for HP domicile residents: -
(i) 30 percent of the Normal Seats shall be filled up by ICAR.
(ii) The remaining Normal seats under HP Quota shall be reserved for the domicile residents of Himachal Pradesh.
The University has implemented 40-point reservation roster (currently being followed by the Himachal Pradesh Department of Medical Education & Research, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh for admission to MD/MS/DNB) with specific points designated for SC, ST, PwD, and EWS categories. The details are as follows:
SC@ 15% - Roster point 1,8,14,22,28 and 36 | ST @7.5% - Roster point 4,17 and 31 | PwD @ 5% - Roster point 20 and 40 | EWS @ 10% - Roster point 9,19,29 and 39 |
The remaining seats shall be kept for UR category candidates.
2. Self-financing seats shall be open for all at National level and shall be filled up by the University as Self-financing Seats.
Minimum Educational qualification/ eligibility
The eligibility criteria of candidates to the different disciplines of M.Sc./ M. Tech./ MBA (Agribusiness) programmes are given below: -
Graduates with an OGPA of 6.00/10.00 under course credit system or with a minimum of 60% marks in the respective degree from a recognized University (relax able by 5% in the case of SC/ ST/ Physically Challenged candidates and in-service nominees) in the following order of preference: -
The discipline-wise qualification for admission to various M. Sc./ M. Tech./ MBA (Agribusiness) programme shall be as under: -
(i) M.Sc. (Horticulture) Fruit Science
B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture/ B.Sc. Horticulture 4-years programme.
(ii) M.Sc. (Horticulture) Floriculture & Landscape/ Vegetable Science/ Postharvest Management
B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture/ B.Sc. Horticulture 4-years programme. However, if seats remain vacant, the candidates with B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture/ B. Sc. Agriculture 4 years programme shall be considered.
(iii)M.Sc. (Ag.) Seed Science & Technology/ M.Sc. (Hort.) Plantation, Spices and Medicinal & Aromatic Crops
B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture/ B.Sc. Horticulture/ B.Sc. (Hons.) Forestry/ B.Sc. Forestry 4 years programme. However, if seats remain vacant the candidates with B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture/ B.Sc. Agriculture shall be considered.
(iv)M.Sc. Plant Protection (Ag.) Entomology/ Plant Pathology
B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture/ B. Sc. Horticulture/ B.Sc. (Hons.) Forestry/ B.Sc. Forestry 4 years programme. However, if seats remain vacant, the candidates with B. Sc. (Hons.) Biotechnology/ B. Tech. Biotechnology, B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture/ B.Sc. Agriculture shall be considered.
(v) M. Sc. Molecular Biology & Biotechnology
B.Sc. (Hons.) Biotechnology/ B. Tech. Biotechnology 4-years programme. If seats remain vacant, the candidates with B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture/ B.Sc. Horticulture/ B.Sc. (Hons.) Forestry/ B. Sc. Forestry 4 years programme shall be considered on merit basis. However, if seats still remain vacant the candidates with B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture/ B.Sc. Agriculture 4-years programme shall be considered.

(xi) M.Sc. Agricultural Statistics
B.Sc. (Hons.) Forestry/ B.Sc. Forestry/ B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture/ B.Sc. Horticulture 4 years programme. However, if seats remain vacant, the candidates with B. Sc. Agriculture 4 years programme shall be considered.
(xii)MBA (Agribusiness) Programme
B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture/ B.Sc. Horticulture/ B.Sc. (Hons.) Forestry/ B.Sc. (Hons) Biotechnology/ B. Tech. Biotechnology 4 years programme. However, if seats remain vacant, the candidates with B.Sc. Agriculture or other Agricultural Sciences 4 years programme shall be considered.
Normal seats/ Self-financing seats
The marks obtained in Postgraduate Entrance Test-2023 (PGET-2023) will be considered for admission in Normal seats as well as Self-financing seats which shall be conducted by the Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry, Nauni (Solan). The candidates having secured less than 45 marks in the entrance test (PGET-2023) shall not be considered for appearing in the Counselling Process/ Admission.
Sports and Co-curricular activities seats (Only for Normal Seats)
Eligibility criteria will be the same as for other candidates under normal seats, applying for Master’s degree programmes. The merit of candidates shall be determined on the basis of aggregate score in different sports and co-curricular activities during last four academic years (upto 31st July of the particular year) as per weightage of different activities given in the Table given hereunder. Only one sports and co-curricular activity certificate which is most beneficial to the candidate (highest score) per year will be considered. If the candidates having equal aggregate score under sports category, a candidate with higher marks obtained in PGET-2023 shall be placed in higher merit list.
